In 1995, Mr. Porto was on the street in New York City on his way to a Christmas Eve dinner with his sister. While walking down the street he was grabbed from behind in a bear hug by one man, while another man got in his face and told him he was going to tear his head off if he didn't surrender his money and wallet. Being a 20 year veteran of the Martial Arts, Mr. Porto utilized several basic tactics to free himself, by utilizing a hard hurt and divert method to get himself to safety. At that point Mr. Porto realized this could happen to any person in any town. What really got him to thinking was the fact that the tactics he used to escape from a potentially dangerous situation could be used by anybody facing a similar experience as long as they did not initially panic. From that day, Mr. Porto began the development of a program of basic tactics taken from several different Martial Arts. These would then be incorporated into a video tape demonstrating basic self defense, and showing simple evasive tactics that everyone would find easy to learn.   Mr. Porto has a combined 25 years of training and is the Creator of the World Defense Systems, Inc. Personally, Mr. Porto is the father of two elementary school age children, sons, and is working in the nutrition field as well as training in the Martial Arts. Over the past few years, Mr. Porto has worked part time as a personal bodyguard for local businessmen and different entertainers, but his true focus is his children and the Martial Arts.
